Arsenal reportedly met with Bordeaux board members on Friday to try and sort a deal for Laurent Koscielny who is still, apparently, refusing to play for the club that pays his wages.

Unai Emery has been clear that he wants the player to stay, the player has been clear he wants to leave, and Arsenal have told clubs to cough up £10m or bugger off.

Bordeaux have no intentions of paying that sort of money because it means they wouldn’t be able to make Koscileny their highest earner.

Le Parisien write on Saturday, “In addition, Koscielny, 33, is interested in the challenge of coaching the young Bordeaux team and the project of the club . Finally the prospect of living two and a half hours from his hometown, Tulle in Corrèze, where his family resides is also an important asset of seduction for the Girondins.”

Although the transfer window closes in England on Thursday, it remains open in France until 2 September.
