Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has suggested he doesn’t know why teammate Alexandre Lacazette isn’t being picked to play alongside him.

Against Liverpool at the weekend, Lacazette was relegated to the bench, playing just nine minutes at the end of the match. The striker also sat on the bench for the entire 90 minutes against Newcastle, only starting against Burnley.

Part of that is because of Lacazette’s injury in pre-season, but there have been signs throughout the rest of the year that Emery isn’t always keen to play the strikers together.

One Arsenal fan asked Aubameyang about the situation on Instagram, as the 30-year-old held a Q&A on his friend’s account.

The fan wrote “Pq Emery il fait pas jouer Lacazette” which translates to “Why does Emery not play Lacazette”.

Aubameyang responded by saying “bonne question” (good question) along with an emoji of a person shrugging their shoulders.

We all know Aubameyang doesn’t exactly take things too seriously away from football. He’s a bit of a joker, and he likely didn’t mean anything by this latest comment. It does suggest he’d prefer to be playing alongside his good friend, but that’s not surprising.

The game against Tottenham Hotspur this weekend will provide another opportunity for Emery to show whether he trusts the two together in the big matches.
