Emile Smith Rowe appeared to suffer an injury setback with the Arsenal u23s on Friday, although it’s not clear whether it’s anything serious yet.

After putting together a number of starts for the youth teams, it appeared that Smith Rowe was finally on the verge of a return to senior action after the international break.

The 19-year-old had one more game before that break, an u23 match away to Derby County. Unfortunately, just after the 70th minute, the midfielder went down after slipping and falling awkwardly.

Though the incident didn’t seem like anything serious at first, Smith Rowe remained on the ground until the medical staff were called on. They treated him and he walked slowly off the pitch, to be replaced by Miguel Azeez.

Obviously the club weren’t going to take any risks with Smith Rowe’s fitness, so the fact he was taken off doesn’t necessarily mean it’s anything serious, though the way he remained on the floor was rather worrying.

Hopefully, it’s nothing more than a scare, but with the player’s injury record this year we’ll have to wait anxiously for an update from the club.
