David Luiz praised the humility at Arsenal after making his debut for the side on Saturday in a comment I’m deliberately choosing to see as a dig at arrogant players at Chelsea.

Of course, he probably didn’t mean that way at all but it pleases me to think he did so let’s work with it.

Speaking after the game, Luiz, who had a relatively solid debut and only caused one heart attack for fans, told Arsenal media, “It feels very good! [to make my debut] I’m so happy to be here and to try to do my job and also to enjoy it with these kinds of quality players.

“I think this team has a lot to do and can improve a lot and we can fight for all the competitions, so we’re going to work step by step, working hard. It’s a pleasure to be here because everybody is humble, everybody wants to learn and everybody wants to improve to help this club shine again.”

I’m not sure that Arsenal can challenge for all the competitions but there’s no reason why they can’t give it a go. Anything can happen in the cups and we know that we have the beating of all the teams in the Europa League.

As for the Premier League, we might actually need a little less humility to get back up that table and, if that’s the case, I’d back David Luiz to be the one to show his Arsenal teammates the way.
