Arsenal are reportedly ready to offer Matteo Guendouzi a new deal that would see his wages increase to £70kpw.
Signed only last summer, Matteo Guendouzi arrived as an unknown youngster who was billed ‘one for the future’. Except he wasn’t. He was one for the now and quickly established himself as a regular starter under Unai Emery in the Spaniard’s first season at Arsenal.
In total, the 20-year-old featured in 48 first team games last season, starting 35.
Currently believed to be earning around £40kpw, and under contract until 2022, Arsenal want to increase his wages to £70kpw and tie him down until 2024.
So far this season, Guendouzi has played the full 180 minutes of Arsenal’s season, averaging 63 passes per game with an 89.7% pass accuracy.
£70kpw would make Guendouzi the joint 12th highest earner at Arsenal, level with Nacho Monreal but behind Lucas Torreira (£75k), Shkodran Mustafi (£90k), Sokratis (£92k), Granit Xhaka (£100k), Bernd Leno (£100k), Sead Kolasinac (£100k), Hector Bellerin (£110k), Henrikh Mkhitaryan (£180k), Alexandre Lacazette (£182k), Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£200k), and Mesut Ozil (£350k).
