Arsenal are bigger than Spurs. No matter that they’ve finished above us for a handful of seasons while we fell apart and began to rebuild, over the history of the two sides there is simply no contest.

13 league titles to 2 tells you all you need to know.

But, as we also know, Spurs treat games against Arsenal like they’re cup finals, which is fair enough I guess. When you aren’t that good at getting to cup finals or winning the when you do, you take your joy where you can find it.

The two sides first met on 9 November 1896 with Woolwich Arsenal winning 2-1.

Since then, the sides have played another 197 times with Arsenal winning 82 in total, Spurs winning 64 and the sides drawing 52 times.

To put that into percentages, Arsenal have won 41% of their games against Tottenham and lost 26%.

When we look at just games played at the home of Arsenal there have been 98 of those. Arsenal have won 52 (53%) with Spurs emerging victorious on our patch 22 times (21.5%).

Spurs have won at the Emirates once in the league – in 2010.
