Kelechi Nwakali’s agent has denied the player has agreed to leave Arsenal for SD Huesca but has admitted the player will leave this summer, whether on loan or permanently.

Just a couple of days ago, it was widely reported that Kelechi Nwakali had agreed to leave Arsenal and that the club had waived any fee to let him join SD Huesca for nothing.

Given he has two years left on his Arsenal contract, that didn’t make any sense to me, especially given the stance we were taking with Laurent Koscielny who wanted to do the same and has clearly given far more service to the club.

It wasn’t a surprise, then, to read Nwakali’s agent/manager/spokesperson (and brother) Allwell, saying, “The news is not correct, nothing like that for now. If Kelechi is joining a new club, I’ll be the first person to know.

”I know Kelechi will leave Arsenal either on loan or permanent deal, clubs are coming for him. By God’s grace I know we will be able to get a better club and a club that can play him each game, it’s not all about the money.

”He wants to go to a place where he’ll get the chance to play so he can showcase his talents, that’s what we want.”

Nwakali has yet to feature for Arsenal due to problems getting a work permit for him but he is still highly-rated despite struggles on his last loan.

Still only 21, it seems unlikely he will break into the Arsenal first team anytime soon but who knows what a good loan could do for the player who won the Golden Ball at the FIFA U17 World Cup in 2015 before Arsenal signed him.
