RMC reporter Saber Desfarges claims Nicolas Pepe should become an Arsenal player in the next 48 hours, in a deal costing €80m.

Desfarges writes on Twitter that the player is set to inform Lille of his decision after the Ligue 1 club agreed a transfer fee with three different clubs. Pepe narrowed the choice down to Napoli and Arsenal, and it appears he’s now picked the Gunners.

The full article on the RMC website claims Pepe should sign for Arsenal in the next 48 hours, despite his representatives continuing to hold discussions with Napoli as well.

Yahoo Sport France’s Manu Lonjon also implied the deal was done for Pepe to join Arsenal with a post on Twitter on Monday afternoon.

It’s telling that RMC aren’t willing to 100% rule out Napoli just yet. Although the suggestion is very much that Pepe will join Arsenal, they clearly don’t think he’s quite reached that final decision at this stage.

Whilst updates on the transfer continue to be encouraging, there’s still potential for things to swing the other way. It’s only done when it’s done.
