Arsenal are currently training in Los Angeles, California, ahead of the first match of their tour of the USA on Tuesday. The club posted some pictures after their first couple of training sessions, revealing new numbers for Matt Macey and Gabriel Martinelli.

Martinelli had been wearing 96 after joining from Brazilian club FC Ituano, casting doubt over whether he was intended as an addition for the u23s or the first team. However, he’s now been bumped up to a senior number, 35.

Meanwhile, Macey hadn’t worn a number in his previous sessions in pre-season, but he was wearing 33 on Friday.

The youth players on tour who haven’t been fully promoted to the first team, such as Tyreece John-Jules, Bukayo Saka and James Olayinka, all wore shirts without numbers for the session.

Given the reports that Dejan Iliev is set for a loan, it’s no surprise to see Macey taking up the third goalkeeper position at Arsenal. As for Martinelli, the Gunners are clearly planning to give him a chance to impress at senior level. Good news for the two of them.
