Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been named Official Ambassador of the European Under-19 Championship 2019 ahead of the tournament in Armenia.

Given the location of the tournment, it is perhaps not surprising that their most famous footballing export has been chosen for the role of Official Ambassador of the European Under-19 Championship 2019 but it’s still a nice honour for the Arsenal man nonetheless.

The tournament kicks off on 14 July and runs until 27 July.

It will feature two groups of four teams. In Group A are Armenia, Portugal, Italy and Spain while Group B features Czech Republic, Republic of Ireland, Norway and France.

It’s also not lost on me that this ‘accolade’ comes only a few months after Mkhitaryan was forced to miss the Europa League final because of UEFA’s decision to hold it in Baku.
