According to an exclusive in the Independent, the 19-year-old has made a good recovery from the hip problem that caused him issues during his loan last season. As such, Wolfsburg lead the chase to sign him again on loan but the Independent also report that Werder Bremen have made an ‘attractive approach’.

Arsenal, for their part, are keen to get him more first team minutes but the Independent’s report is keen to stress that the midfielder is very much part of Unai Emery’s long-term plans at the club.

There is, of course, no rush to get this deal done. While the window closes in England on 8 August, the Bundesliga (and La Liga) window doesn’t close until 2 September. That means Arsenal have a few weeks yet to get rid of the players they want to sell and loan out the youngsters they want to grow.
