Spanish outlet Sport report that Ceballos arrived in London on Tuesday. This has been confirmed by plenty of other sources, suggesting he arrived to undertake his medical with the club.

Sport go on to add that Ceballos’ lawyer and agent all arrived at Arsenal on Wednesday to close the deal and complete the signing.

There was some concern that the injury to Marco Asensio sustained in Real Madrid’s friendly against Arsenal could have an impact on Ceballos’ transfer, but there’s no suggestion this will be the case. The deal should be done as previously planned.

Ceballos decided to join Arsenal over Tottenham Hotspur, with both the player and Real Madrid keen to only make it a season-long loan deal for now. However, Madrid president Florentino Perez has given his word that they can discuss a permanent deal at the end of the season.

Arsenal will pay the midfielder’s wages in full, but that won’t be a hugely significant addition to the wage bill, at around €4m per season.
