Birmingham only confirmed Crowley’s move to the club on Thursday, joining for a reported £750,000 from Willem II. The midfielder was straight into the action the next day though, starting a pre-season friendly against Swindon Town.

Within five minutes, Crowley had given his new team the lead, and he followed his goal up with two assists before the end of the first half. He was also involved in a fourth goal before the break.

Swindon are two leagues below Birmingham, so it’s not worth getting too excited about the 21-year-old’s performance against them. Nonetheless, the former Gunner couldn’t have asked for a better debut.

Crowley spent a few years in the Arsenal academy, joining in 2014 before departing for Willem II in 2017.

The England u19 international (who has declared himself for Ireland at senior level) never made a senior competitive appearance for Arsenal, and he took a while to hit his stride in the Netherlands, but he had a very impressive campaign in 2018/19:

Seems like it’s going to be worth keeping an eye on how the midfielder does this season back in England.
