At the start of July it was claimed that Arsenal were closing in on the signing of Yacine Brahimi but it seems as if the 29-year-old winger is heading to Qatar.

Yacine Brahimi is out of contract with FC Porto and was reportedly offered contracts by Fenerbahce, Galatasaray and Besiktas however it was Arsenal who reportedly convinced him to join according to stories coming from Portugal.

A Bola claimed that Arsenal had agreed to pay the player a €4m signing on bonus with their information coming from Gazette du Fennec, an Algerian site. An announcement, they said, would come at the end of the AFCON.

Of course, there has been no announcement.

It was then claimed that Brahimi was a backup option should the Gunners fail to land Wilfried Zaha.

Now, however, it seems as if he’s off for a payday in Qatar.
