The Gunners lost 1-0 with the Bayern goal from Melanie Leupolz, in a game marred by Dan Carter’s knee injury that could see her out for another lengthy period.

The starting 11 yesterday was: Zinsberger; Maier, Quinn, Beattie, Veje; Schnaderbeck, Little, McCabe; Evans, Kemme, Carter. The sub used were Mitchell, Arnth, Filis and Flores

There was an update on the squad numbers as well as a new signing being unveiled, with no fanfare or announcement:

Returning Academy midfielders Ruby Grant and Melisa Filis will wear number 26 and 27 respectively. Another Academy player that has been training with the first team, Mexico u-20 player Silvana Flores will wear number 28. The young defensive midfielder played in last year’s FIFA u-17 WWC final and was recently voted player of the tournament at the Sud Ladies cup.

As often in women’s football due to the usual secrecy around transfers, in their squad number update Arsenal also announced the signing of the 18-year-goalkeeper Fran Stenson from Manchester City.

Stenson made her FA WSL debut aged 16 with Birmingham City as a substitute before transferring to Manchester City last Summer. She made her full FA WSL Cup debut with City last season, before going on loan to Blackburn Rovers. The young goalie will wear number 24 and according to Richard Laverty will be going on loan.
