Arsenal are in desperate need of competent, and willing, central defenders. With Laurent Koscielny on strike/consigned to the reserves, questions marks over Shkodran Mustafi and Rob Holding still recovering from injury, most fans want to see them reinforce in this area.

If the club are searching for new central defenders, then they’ve been doing so quietly as few have been linked over recent weeks. That changed this weekend when it was claimed they wanted to sign Juventus’ Rugani on loan.

That, however, won’t be happening.

Tuttojuve.com write simply about the rumour – ‘the Bianconeri would have no intention of selling the defender.’

The 25-year-old is under contract until 2023 and reportedly valued at £40m by Juventus. He made 15 Serie A appearances last season and 20 overall in all competitions.
