The draw took place on Friday at lunchtime on talkSPORT, pitting Arsenal in Group H against Peterborough United, Cambridge United and Northampton Town. All matches will be played away from home.

Arsenal’s u21 team made their first appearance in the tournament in 2017/18.

They came through the group stage with two wins over Coventry and Forest Green Rovers, as well as a disappointing defeat to Cheltenham Town with 10 men. Unfortunately, they were then eliminated against Portsmouth, the eventual winners of the competition.

Despite their appearance only being brief, the tournament was still a good experience for the young Arsenal players.

Bukayo Saka announced himself with a fantastic performance against Forest Green and a wonder-goal in defeat to Portsmouth, whilst Joe Willock and Tyreece John-Jules were both just as impressive in the group stage.

They’ll be looking to go a bit further in the competition this time around. It’s a rare opportunity for the youth players to test themselves against senior opposition, so it’s definitely worth entering again this year.
