The Arsenal links appear to have originated in The S*n, for what it’s worth. According to the report, the Gunners have been watching Bowen since January, and they’ve now since enough to make an official bid of £12m.

Hull reportedly value the winger at around £15m, but they could be tempted to sell for £3m less. Bowen scored 22 goals and assisted four in 46 Championship appearances last season, mostly from wide positions.

Of course, Arsenal are currently involved in the high-profile chase of Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha. They’ve reportedly bid £40m, but Palace want £80m, so a deal is a long way off yet.

If the pursuit of Zaha doesn’t work out, Bowen could make a promising cut-price alternative.

According to WhoScored, Bowen’s strengths are his finishing, dribbling, long shots and defensive contribution, whilst his weaknesses are aerial duels (he’s around 5’8″), holding onto the ball and passing.
