Arsenal are reportedly offering Mesut Ozil around Europe but are yet to get anyone to make an offer which is bound to make him feel great going into the new season.

It’s well known that Arsenal have regrets over the wage they sanctioned for Mesut Ozil. Coupled with his loss of form it has long been suggested they would like to move him on.

But he doesn’t want to go and given that nobody else in their right mind will pay him £350kpw, can you blame him?

Calciomercato report that the German has already been offered to Napoli, Juventus and Inter Milan. They’ve also offered him to Turkish sides Galatasaray, Istanbul Basaksehir and Fenerbahce which is just nonsense because on what planet could they afford him?

Just a few days ago it was reported that Mesut Özil was set to remain with Arsenal this summer.

The Daily Mail claimed that despite Arsenal’s restricted budget and Özil’s high wages, the German was nonetheless set to stay with the club.

They did add that Arsenal are open to offers for him but haven’t received any and seemingly don’t believe any will come in.

This was to be expected given Özil and his agent have made no suggestion that he has a desire to leave this summer. Agents play a key role in generating interest in their clients, and Özil’s clearly hasn’t been given instructions to do so.

If the 30-year-old was coming off a fantastic season then perhaps the offers would roll in. However, despite being far from the biggest problem at Arsenal last year, Özil’s numbers were down on any of his previous campaigns in the last decade.

The sense we get is that Özil is happy in London off the pitch and he wants to prove he’s a valuable player on it, rather than being offloaded to whichever club would currently take him.

With the financial difficulties involved in signing the playmaker, it’s unlikely any club is going to test us on that.
