AS report that Real Madrid are in negotiations with Arsenal over the summer transfer of Vazquez. Unai Emery is pushing for the move, and Vazquez is also keen on the transfer, though Inter Milan, Bayern Munich and PSG are also interested in him.

Vazquez believes he’ll have a better chance of making Spain’s squad for the European Championships playing for Arsenal than Real Madrid, as he’ll be guaranteed a starting spot.

Madrid want to have as much of their transfer business as possible done before they leave for America on Tuesday. As a result, AS expect movement in these reported negotiations by Monday.

Vazquez has just turned 28 years old, and he scored five goals and assisted four in 47 appearances last season, so he’s probably not going to be the first choice of many Arsenal fans.

Arguably his inconsistent game time hasn’t helped though, as 16 of his 31 games in La Liga came from the bench in 2018/19. Also, it would be nice to finally have a player who is actually a right-winger, as opposed to all the different players Arsenal have forced into the position in recent years.

Still, the move is a lot less exciting than the rumours surrounding players like Zaha or Malcom.
