It’s the transfer window, so we couldn’t let the next couple of months pass without the obligatory link to Gary Cahill.

90min report that Cahill is being targeted by a number of Premier League sides following the expiration of his Chelsea contract at the end of last season.

Arsenal, West Ham, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa are reportedly all interested in a move for the 33-year-old on a free transfer. This is nothing new, as the Gunners are linked with Cahill every time there’s even a hint he might be available.

Cahill only made eight appearances for Chelsea last season, playing just one minute of football in 2019. Even that one minute was more of a send-off than anything else, and perhaps it wouldn’t have happened if Chelsea hadn’t been 3-0 up and cruising.

Don’t be surprised if this transfer link continues to come back throughout the window. There’s almost no chance Arsenal will actually sign Cahill, but his representatives are likely to allow speculation to grow in order to get him a move somewhere else.

Villa probably makes the most sense, giving him a chance to link back up with John Terry.
