One of Arsenal’s main targets this summer is also wanted by Manchester United but it seems as if Thomas Meunier isn’t their first choice.

Unai Emery has reportedly been in touch with the player he managed while at PSG ‘several times’ as he tries to convince him to pick Arsenal over a side that will play in the Champions League next season.

The move has been on and off more often than a light switch in winter and now ‘tier one Belgian journalist’ Kristof Terreur has provided another update.

He claims that the player is not a priority for United and that they are ‘looking at other players’.

“Meunier knows that he has one year left on his deal and has not been offered a new one at PSG,” Terreur said on the Sky Sports podcast. “His agent has been preparing for a move.

“He likes it in Paris and wouldn’t mind staying but Unai Emery has been in touch with him a few times because a right-back is a priority at Arsenal.

“But do they have the money after not qualifying for the Champions League? I’m told that for Manchester United he is definitely not their first choice because they are looking at other players.

“His agent has also had a meeting with Everton too but there has been nothing concrete so we are just waiting. PSG want to sell him though for the right price at £20-25 million.”

Of course, that’s a lot of money to pay for a player who is only going to be first-choice for a short while until Hector Bellerin returns.

And, as we know, money is something Arsenal don’t have very much of this window.
