Italian outlet Il Messaggero claim that Lazio have identified the profile of defender they want to sign in the current window and put together a shortlist of potential options. Calum Chambers and Newcastle’s Jamal Lascelles are on that list, with an expected price tag of around €14m.

Chambers won Fulham’s Fan Player of the Season award for the 2018/19 campaign, spending the year on loan at Craven Cottage. Unfortunately, the season ended with relegation, so the Arsenal man joining them permanently is off the table.

The Gunners are still expected to put the 24-year-old up for sale, however, as they look to boost their summer budget.

Chambers has three years on his contract and he’s coming off the back of a good season. If he doesn’t have a future at Arsenal, this is the best time to sell.

On the other hand, his homegrown status is likely to make Arsenal hesitant to sell for as little as €14m. It would be difficult to buy a first-team-ready homegrown replacement for that kind of money.
