Krystian Bielik has admitted his future is still up in the air at the moment, but he has no desire to return to the Arsenal u23s.

Bielik spent the 2018/19 season on loan with Charlton, helping them achieve promotion to the Championship.

Charlton head of recruitment Steve Gallen recently confirmed that Bielik would return to Arsenal for pre-season, aiming to secure a place in Unai Emery’s first-team squad. Bielik himself has since spoken out to say he won’t stay in North London to play academy football.

“My future is unknown but there is one thing I can say for sure: I will definitely not go back to Arsenal U23 team,” Bielik said (via Arseblog).

“At this stage, it wouldn’t make sense. If I do not receive the possibility to join the first team permanently, I will have to look for other solutions.

“I feel like a senior player now so I want to play senior football. This is, however, not the right moment to discuss these issues as I want to be 100% focused on the European Championships.”

Bielik is set to feature in the u21 European Championships with Poland this summer, which kicks off on Sunday. The defender joins fellow Arsenal youngsters Reiss Nelson (England) and Matteo Guendouzi (France) at the event.

It’s hard to disagree with Bielik that after the conclusion of the tournament, the only option that shouldn’t be on the table is returning to the Arsenal u23s.

That would be a backwards step and effectively spell the end of his career with the Gunners anyway, so why not just sell?

If he can’t get senior games after a season of regular first-team football, five years into his time with Arsenal, it’s probably never going to happen. His value has been given a bit of a boost by last season, so it’s make or break time at the Emirates.
