Reyes Lopez had agreed to join Real Madrid prior to his father’s death in a car accident this month, and pictures posted on social media from the youngster have now confirmed the move. The 11-year-old was previously playing for Leganes.

Though the original deal clearly had nothing to do with the former Arsenal player’s death, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has since confirmed the club will look out for his son until his 18th birthday.

It’s a nice touch, and hopefully, one which will at least gives Reyes’ family a bit of security in what must be a very difficult period for them all.

Reyes Lopez has a great role model to follow, as his father won over 10 trophies playing for Sevilla, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Atletico and Benfica, among other clubs. If it wasn’t for his homesickness he could’ve had a long career in North London, and Gunners fans will always remember his time with the club fondly.
