Not long after it was reported that Arsenal had made an approach for Jordan Veretout it was claimed that he is on his way to Napoli.

L’Equipe (via GFFN) reported that Arsenal had become the latest team to make an approach for Veretout. The 26-year-old has a deal lasting until 2021, and he’s coming off the back of a strong season in Serie A.

The former Aston Villa midfielder has been heavily linked with a number of other clubs. He was reportedly in ‘advanced negotiations’ with Napoli, and he has been for several weeks now. It seems like they have actually got somewhere with the talks.

Football Italia now report that the player favours a move to Naples, mainly because he wants to play in the Champions League.

Fiorentina want €20m for the central midfielder, a price that Arsenal can afford but that won’t matter if the player wants Champions League football.
