Jeff Reine-Adelaide is drawing interest after his strong performances in the u21 European Championship, but Angers won’t let him leave for less than €20m.

Ouest-France report that Reine-Adelaide caught the eye of a number of top clubs at the u21 tournament.

FC Porto, AC Milan, Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund, Lille and Lyon are all seemingly courting him after two assists and a penalty won in four games before France’s semi-final elimination.

According to the French outlet, Angers wouldn’t let Reine-Adelaide leave for less than €20m. Arsenal have a 10% sell-on clause in the winger’s contract, so the Gunners would make at least €2m on any sale this summer.

Of course, this is raising all the old questions about whether Arsenal should have held onto the 21-year-old, and whether they should have tried to get more money for him when they sold in the first place.

You have to keep the situation in perspective though. The reason Reine-Adelaide commanded a relatively small fee last summer is that bottom-half Ligue 1 side Angers were the most high-profile team actively trying to sign him.

The winger had major problems with injuries for a couple of seasons before his sale, and he remains very inconsistent in front of goal. In 54 first-team matches for Angers and Arsenal, the French u21 international has three goals and three assists.

Though his dribbling ability is excellent, Reine-Adelaide struggles with his decision making, finishing and defensive contribution. He appears to be improving, but he’s not there yet. Don’t be fooled by a few goal contributions as a 21-year-old in an u21 tournament.
