Arsenal are reportedly ‘very interested’ in signing 17-year-old Brazilian Reinier, an attacking midfielder who can also play on the flanks.

Since Arsene Wenger and his team departed and Raul Sanllehi & co. arrived, Arsenal have been much more interested in the South American market. With Edu looking like he will join and bring Gabriel Martinelli with him, they could be about to go after a second young Brazilian talent in Renier.

Full name Reinier Jesus Carvalho, he currently plays for Flamengo’s u20 side where he has a contract until 2020.

No price is mentioned in the Italian report about the Brazil u17 international captain who has five goals in his nine appearances.

Reinier is a new name in the Arsenal rumour mill and seems like the type of player Arsenal are targeting – young, inexpensive, and with connections to somebody at (or arriving at) the club.

He is expected to be promoted to the Flamengo first team next season if he doesn’t move before that.

AC Milan have also been linked with a move for him however when they were linked, Brazilian Leonardo was still their sporting director. He left after Ivan Gazidis’s arrival and it might just be that Ivan’s quest for power has handed the advantage in this transfer to the club he left in the sh*t.

This feels like one to keep an eye on.
