Arsenal were regulars at the Dirinon Tournament between 2003 and 2014, winning it three times (2003, 2008 and 2009). The likes of Jack Wilshere, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Alex Iwobi all featured during that spell.

However, in recent years the Gunners started to favour events in the UK instead.

As a result, the Dirinon Tournament organisers were pleased to see the Gunners returning to participate in 2019. Event manager Jean-Francois Kerdraon said: “It’s a great asset to have them back with us.”

Arsenal’s u11 side played well on day one in the group stage, winning three games, drawing one and losing one. They scored 15 goals and conceded just two, but unfortunately finished one point off top spot and failed to qualify for the ‘Tournoi Des Champions’.

Instead, they dropped into the ‘Tournoi Des Espoirs’ for day two, which they won comfortably. After a 7-1 victory in their last-16 match, here are the results for the remainder of the knockout stage:

Considering the Arsenal youngsters scored 32 goals and conceded three at the tournament, they’ll be disappointed not to have lifted the champions trophy instead! There’s always next year.
