Matt Macey didn’t enjoy the best loan spell at Plymouth Argyle last season. In total, he conceded 70 goals in just 38 matches with only five clean sheets.

At first, Macey appeared to be making a good start to his loan spell with Plymouth. Though the team was performing terribly as a whole, he earned praise for a couple of penalty saves and played every single league match until December 26th.

Things went downhill after that. The 24-year-old didn’t play a league game three months after he was dropped to the bench. He made a comeback as a substitute against Sunderland in March, thanks to an injury, but then conceded a goal in his 10-minute spell on the pitch.

Even when he played for the Plymouth reserves against MK Dons u23s he shipped five.

In short, he’s clearly not going to make it as Arsenal.

It’s no surprise then that he’s been told he can move on despite being seen as a keeper set for big things by Arsene Wenger.
