Unai Emery has reportedly convinced the Arsenal board to cough up €22.5m for Lucas Vazquez who will be forced out of Real Madrid this summer apparently.

With the arrival of Eden Hazard and Rodrygo Goes, Don Balon report that there is no room for Vazquez in Zinedine Zidane’s squad, that Arsenal are in ‘pole position to welcome him,’ and that Real Madrid want €30m for him.

Although he featured in 31 La Liga games last season for Zidane, the 27-year-old winger averaged fewer than 50 minutes per game. Unsurprisingly, this had an impact on his stats with just one goal and three assists in those games.

Arsenal were also linked with a move for him ahead of the January window but, of course, we didn’t have the money to buy anyone then.

We don’t have much to play with in this window either and €22.5m would represent a good chunk of it.

Last summer we were reportedly willing to pay €40m for him, but given that’s €10m above what Real Madrid want now, that seems unlikely.

Vazquez signed for Real Madrid when he was 15 and is under contract until 2021.
