Arsenal are set to miss out on Christopher Nkunku, with Bundesliga club RB Leipzig to sign the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder instead.

As recently as this week, Arsenal were reportedly still monitoring Nkunku’s transfer situation. However, a number of French outlets are now reporting that a deal for Nkunku to join Leipzig is imminent.

RMC write that the midfielder will sign his contract on Sunday, moving for €15m and agreeing a five-year deal with his new club. Goal’s Robin Bairner reiterates that the move should be finalised today and Le Parisien say the same thing.

Reports in Germany aren’t quite so certain that the deal is done, with the likes of Bild (via CulturePSG) suggesting it’s unlikely to be announced just yet, with some details still to be agreed.

Regardless, it’s looking significantly more likely that Leipzig complete the signing than Arsenal returning for their January transfer target at this stage.

It seems Arsenal are more focused on other positions as things stand. Nkunku is a midfielder who can also play at right wing-back, but the Gunners appear to be prioritising central defenders, left-backs and wingers, so perhaps that’s why the interest in the PSG 21-year-old ended up fading away.
