Joachim Andersen and Dennis Praet look likely to leave Sampdoria this summer, with Arsenal the closest club to landing them, according to reports in Italy.

Tuttosport report that Praet and Andersen’s ‘suitcases are almost ready’ for their departure from Sampdoria. Tottenham, AC Milan, Atletico Madrid and ‘above all Arsenal’ are in the running for the signings, so there’s plenty of competition.

Neither player has a release clause, according to the report, so it’s up to Sampdoria to decide the price they sell at. The Serie A side are asking for between €50m and €60m, and Arsenal are the closest to the asking price, as they’re ready to offer €47m for both.

Previous reports suggested Arsenal could even be willing to offer the full €50m, but Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero has asked for a delay in negotiations while he appoints a new head coach.

Praet (25) is a central midfielder who is strong in possession and progresses the ball forwards well, whilst Andersen (23) is a tall ball-playing centre-back. It’s certainly not too farfetched that Arsenal could be in for both, given Aaron Ramsey’s departure and the persistent defensive issues at the club.
