Alexandre Lacazette was spotted in Barcelona after the Europa League final setting the transfer rumour mill on fire despite the fact he’s probably just on holiday.

The Catalans reportedly want to replace the ageing Luis Suarez (or find him a partner, depending on where you do your reading) and one of the players they’ve identified is Alexandre Lacazette.

Arsenal’s player of the season, Laca is out of contract with Arsenal in 2022 and the club are expected to try to tie him to a new deal.

How easy that will be to do given Arsenal’s Europa League debacle and interest from Barca is hard to say, but at 28, the Frenchman is surely thinking now is the time in his career he should be winning trophies.

Atletico Madrid are also said to want him.

The mood around Arsenal at present is not good and it’s hard to see how allowing a fan favourite, and one of our few top talents, to leave would improve that.

That being said, it was the same situation with Mesut Ozil that resulted in the German being offered £350kpw to stay and we’ve all seen how that’s turned out.

But Arsenal may have no choice but to offer Lacazette a significant payrise on his current £100kpw deal if they want him to stay.
