Vivianne Miedema isn’t that bothered about becoming the all-time leading Dutch goalscorer, sure that it will happen at the World Cup.

Vivianne Miedema is just one goal short of equalling Manon Melis’ tally of 59 (in 136 games) for the Dutch national team and, given that she’s still only 22, it’s a matter of ‘when’ she breaks the record not ‘if’.

With the Women’s World Cup about to get underway in France, she has the perfect stage to continue her magnificent form.

Speaking after the Netherland’s warm-up game against New Zealand where she scored her 58th senior international goal, Miedema spoke about the record.

“Well, today was my 75th international match. You can’t put everything in one match, can you? Moreover, it is still more special [to score] at the World Cup, “Miedema replied.

“To be honest, I am not very concerned about it. I’m 22 years old. It will come. If I reach my level at the World Cup, I know I will break the record there. “

Miedema’s goal against New Zealand was her 101st at all levels for her country when you add in the 43 goals she scored at youth level.

For Arsenal, Miedema finished the season with 29 goals from 25 games plus 10 league assists.

Did I mention she’s still just 22?
