Sokratis has now picked up more yellow cards in a league season than any other Arsenal player since the Premier League started.

The Greek defender was, perhaps, unlucky to be booked for diving, especially when you consider what Dele Alli, Harry Kane, Mo Salah and the rest get up to with impunity on a regular basis.

But, with Anthony Taylor in charge of an Arsenal game once again, stupid decisions were the order of the day.

The yellow Sokratis picked up in the 14th minute was his 12th of the season meaning he now holds the record for most Arsenal yellows in a league season.

He takes the record that was held by both Shkodran Mustafi (16/17) and Patrick Vieira (96/97) who both picked up 11.

Granit Xhaka also has 12 yellows this season after he was booked by Anthony Taylor as well, however, only nine of those have been in the Premier League – more than his assists and goals combined (2 + 4).

All of Sokratis’s cards have come in the Premier League which is odd. He averages a yellow every 183 minutes in the league but has managed to play 795 Europa League minutes without picking up a single booking outside the game against Rennes.
