Arsenal are one of five clubs to get in contact with Bertrand Traore’s entourage ahead of a possible summer move, according to reports.

Sebastien Denis of French outlet Foot Mercato reports that Traore wants to stay in Lyon, but only if he gets certain guarantees around his position and playing time next season. The uncertainty around his future has led to a number of clubs swooping in to contact his representatives, including Arsenal, Liverpool, Everton, Leicester and Bayer Leverkusen.

Traore is a Chelsea youth product who made 16 appearances for the Blues before leaving for Lyon in 2017. He wouldn’t be available for cheap this summer, with his club reportedly holding out for around £40m. Arsenal have dealt with Lyon in the transfer market before, and they drive a hard bargain.

The 23-year-old right-winger would fill one of the Gunners’ problem positions though, and with 11 goals and five assists in 48 appearances this season he could take some of the pressure off Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette in front of goal.

Despite that high appearance count, you can understand why Traore wants guarantees over game time, as he came off the bench in 18 of those matches. He had particular trouble getting any consistency in Europe, only starting half of Lyon’s matches. It’d be up to Unai Emery to convince the winger he’d start more regularly with Arsenal.
