Paris Saint-Germain have slapped a €30m price tag on Paris Saint-Germain right-back Thomas Meunier, who is reportedly being targeted by Unai Emery and Arsenal this summer.
France Football (via GFFN) report that Emery wants to sign the PSG full-back this summer. Meunier is being pushed out of the club by Thomas Tuchel, and he’s reportedly also on the shortlist of Manchester United. PSG want €30m for the Belgian international, who has a salary of €3m per year.
Arsenal have a couple of advantages over Manchester United in the race for Meunier’s signature. The right-back has worked with Emery before at PSG, and the Gunners still have the chance to qualify for the Champions League by beating Chelsea in the Europa League final on Wednesday.
At the same time, you wonder whether Arsenal will have €30m to spare on a right-back even if they do qualify for the Champions League. Even though Hector Bellerin is out at the moment, it won’t be long until he’s back and pushing for the first-choice spot in the defence.
With a healthy Bellerin in the squad, you’d be better off upgrading pretty much any other position at the back.
