Barcelona want to sign Alexandre Lacazette if they can’t get their hands on Antoine Griezmann this summer, but Arsenal don’t want to sell, according to reports.

Mundo Deportivo report that Barcelona are ‘between’ Griezmann and Lacazette in terms of their transfer targets this summer. The Atletico striker is their ‘preference’ but Barcelona think the Arsenal man would also fit the profile of player they’re looking for.

Griezmann has an extremely high release clause ever since his last contract extension, so Barcelona feel they might be able to better afford Lacazette. Mundo Deportivo say the striker is valued at €65-70m, that could be lowered even further if the La Liga club include a player like Andre Gomes or Samuel Umtiti.

There have been no negotiations at this stage, and Arsenal’s stance is that their 27-year-old striker is not for sale. Lacazette has a contract in North London until 2022 and he’s just hitting his peak years, so moving him on now would feel like a backwards step.

The Frenchman has just won Arsenal’s Player of the Season award, after scoring 18 goals, assisting 10 and winning one penalty leading to a goal, as well as forcing a couple of own goals against West Ham and Manchester United.

Lacazette has goal contributions in big games against Chelsea, Liverpool, United, Spurs, Napoli and Valencia, and he’s clearly catching the eye around Europe. Hopefully, Arsenal can keep hold of the striker and invest in a better supporting cast for him.
