After their victory over Watford on Monday, Arsenal have won all five of their matches immediately after Europa League knockout games.

Football journalist Matt Scott posted the stat, revealing that Arsenal had five out of five of their matches immediately after playing Europa League knockout matches. For comparison, he highlighted that Chelsea had won none, only managing two draws in five games.

It’s not just 2018/19 Chelsea who have had problems either. Plenty of clubs have had trouble with the Europa League schedule in the past.

Tottenham Hotspur struggled with it year after year during their extended stay in the competition, whilst Arsenal had similar problems last year, losing to Newcastle after their game against CSKA Moscow and Manchester United after the first leg against Atletico Madrid.

Of course, Unai Emery has experience of dealing with the Europa League, having won it three times with Sevilla. If anyone knows how to manage the fixture congestion, it’s him.

Let’s just hope he can keep it up until the end of the season. Arsenal have to play Crystal Palace (H) on Sunday just three days after their trip to Napoli, and if they make the semi-final it will impact the last two games of the season against Brighton (H) and Burnley (A). We could be set for a busy month.
