Ryan Fraser is top of Unai Emery’s list of summer transfer targets, according to reports in the English media, as the Arsenal boss searches for a wide forward.

John Cross of the Mirror reports that Fraser is Emery’s number one target in his search for a winger. The Bournemouth man only has a year left on his contract, and he’s scored eight goals and provided 12 assists this season, so it’s no surprise to see other Premier League clubs like Arsenal thinking about a move for him.

The Mirror add that the Gunners are also looking for a box-to-box midfielder and a defender. However, they’ll be restricted in their wage bill and their transfer budget if they don’t offload players too, especially if they don’t qualify for the Champions League.

Most Arsenal fans would probably argue that the club need to sign at least two defenders over the summer. There’s a clear need for top quality centre-backs, to fill in when Laurent Koscielny or Sokratis Papastathopoulos are unavailable, plus a shortage in the left-back position when Sead Kolasinac is out.

Right now, Nacho Monreal is playing as a backup to both roles, but it’s not even confirmed that he’ll still be here next season. Even if he stays, the Spaniard’s injury record isn’t one Arsenal will want to rely on, especially with Kolasinac’s injury history being almost as bad.

There will be no arguments from supporters if Arsenal push to sign a wide forward as well though, and it appears Fraser is a strong contender. We’ll see what happens.
