Paris Saint-Germain have set their price for 21-year-old midfielder Christopher Nkunku, as Arsenal open talks with them over a summer transfer.

The Evening Standard report that Arsenal are set to return for Nkunku this summer, after failing to land the young PSG star in January. Talks are reportedly ‘at a formative stage’, but the Ligue 1 side have already set their price at €20m (£17.3m).

With the Gunners letting Aaron Ramsey leave for Juventus and sending Denis Suarez back to Barcelona after his injury-hit loan spell, they need reinforcements. Nkunku can play both positions, so he’d make a useful addition.

If Arsenal fail to qualify for the Champions League, the Standard suggest their transfer budget could be as low as £40m, before sales. That would mean needing to invest intelligently on players like Nkunku, who are young with high potential and short contracts.

The player himself seemingly has no interest in extending his time with PSG. He feels he deserves more game time than they’ve given him, with only 17 starts in all competitions this season, and not a single minute in their Champions League campaign. We’ll see if Unai Emery can convince Nkunku he’ll get more of a chance in North London.
