Fulham fans have been showering Calum Chambers in praise after his recent individual performances, despite the club’s desperately disappointing situation overall.

Over the weekend, Fulham lost their eighth consecutive Premier League match, a 2-0 defeat to Manchester City. In fairness, half of those games were against Manchester United, City, Chelsea and Liverpool, but that doesn’t change the fact it’s now almost a certainty they’ll be relegated.

For Arsenal loanee Calum Chambers, it must be disappointing that he hasn’t been able to halt the team’s struggles. However, the Fulham fans seem to be impressed with how the 24-year-old has played on an individual level, at least.

Playing most of the campaign as a defensive midfielder, Chambers has done a great job under the circumstances. His tally of 2.7 interceptions per 90 minutes is higher than any Arsenal player (minimum 5 appearances), and he’s winning 2.5 tackles and 2.3 aerial duels per 90 as well.

Only Aleksandar Mitrovic has a higher WhoScored rating in the Fulham squad than Chambers this season, and he’s even scored a couple of goals.

Whether it’s enough to get the defender another chance in the Arsenal first-choice lineup, we’ll have to wait and see. This campaign should certainly have given his market value a boost if nothing else.
