Matteo Guendouzi has been speaking about his love for Arsenal, his hopes that he can win ‘many titles’ with the club and how he ended up celebrating with Arsenal fans when they beat Spurs 4-2.

Matteo Guendouzi is surely one of the biggest surprise packages of the season. When he was signed last summer not only was he, by his own admission, a player nobody in England knew anything about, he was also only a teenager who was supposed to be ‘one for the future’.

“I dreamed of playing for them one day and it became a reality”

Fast forward 10 months and the teenager is a regular in the Arsenal first team. Only three players have been selected for more minutes than Guendouzi since Unai Emery took charge.

Ahead of Arsenal’s game against Napoli in the Europa League on Thursday night, Guendouzi has been speaking to the media.

Here’s what he had to say:

“When Arsenal recruited me, I must be honest, no one had heard of me among fans and even among the players of the workforce, except perhaps the French.

“I’ve always liked Arsenal,” he continued. “I watched them on TV when I was little. I dreamed of playing for them one day and it became a reality. It’s amazing to be here.

“It was really natural and totally improvised,” Guendouzi says of his celebrations with Arsenal fans after the team’s 4-2 win over Tottenham earlier in the season.

“I love this club, I have a super relationship with the supporters and I hope to win many titles here. The Europa League would be a good start, but it will be necessary to overcome the obstacle of Napoli this evening.”
