The media in Spain still believe that Arsenal, along with Tottenham, Liverpool, Manchester United, Juventus, and Napoli are all still interested in signing James Rodriguez from Real Madrid this summer.

The Colombian, who is married to David Ospina’s sister, has been linked with a move to Arsenal since before the January transfer window and while there is no denying the player’s talent, there is plenty to point to him ending up outside of north London – namely the fee Real Madrid want for the player.

But, a closer examination of this latest rumour in Mundo Deportivo reveals that their source is The S*n who seem to be naming all the top clubs (plus Tottenham) in the hopes of guessing correctly when he eventually does move.

James has been on a two-season loan with Bayern Munich where he has made 64 appearances, scored 15 goals and created 20 assists.

Back in February it was claimed that Juventus ‘could’ seal a €55m deal for the player while Arsenal were linked with a €90m move for him in January.

That is clearly a load of nonsense as Arsenal don’t have anything like €90m to spend on all the players they need to recruit this summer, let alone one 27-year-old star who currently earns £200kpw.

James Rodriguez certainly looks set for a new club this summer. I’d be astounded if that club turns out to be Arsenal.
