Arsenal blew the chance to go third when they lost 1-0 at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon, making nobody feel confident about their chances of sealing top four given the number of away games we have left.

It was a grim afternoon so let’s not waste any more time than we have to re-living it. Here are the ratings, starting as always with the defence. Dan is on holiday, I’m not going to be as kind.
Defence

Bernd Leno 6
Didn’t overly have that much to do, stood up well to deny Bernard in the second half.
Shkodran Mustafi 4
I mean, really? Despite making five clearances and two blocks, he looked a liability all afternoon. His passing accuracy was 76.5%, worse than Leno’s. Was culpable for their goal and was booked for being an absolute moron.
Sokratis 6
Managed to get himself booked meaning he now serves a two-game ban. With six clearances, three tackles, two interceptions and four blocks he was our best defender by a distance.
Nacho Monreal 5
Seemed to spend most of the game moaning at the referee.
Midfield

Ainsley Maitland-Niles 5
Maitland-Niles struggled, as did many of his teammates. He, at least, has the excuse of age and being moved around the pitch.
Mohamed Elneny 4
An average player that put in a below-average performance. He’s not a bad player, he’s just not good. He’ll be off in the summer.
Matteo Guendouzi 4.5
Opposition players and fans must really hate the way Guendouzi swarms around the pitch, Unfortunately, it’s not that productive at times and this was one of those games. Not a single shot, key pass, cross or other contribution going forward.
Sead Kolasinac 3.5
You think you know how bad Sead’s afternoon was until you see that he only completed 53.9% of his passes. Only Jordan Pickford, of the players who started the match, had a worse afternoon with the ball at his feet than Kolasinac, and he touched the ball more. Hooked at halftime.
Attack

Mesut Ozil 4.5
Handed the captain’s armband and his first start away from home in the league since Boxing Day, Mesut failed to impress anyone, although how much he can be expected to do when he is supported by an Elneny-Guendouzi partnership is up for debate. Should do more than this, however.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan 4.5
Did little all afternoon, but did go relatively close with a long-range effort.
Alexandre Lacazette 6.5
Worked hard all afternoon and was denied yet another stonewall penalty.
Subs

Aaron Ramsey 5
Could have scored twice within about eight minutes of coming on and then drifted out of the game and was last seen with his hands on his head in exasperation after losing the ball.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang 5
Touched the ball 12 times.
Alex Iwobi 6
Was lively and direct when he first came on and managed to get on the ball more than Auba despite coming on nearly 20 minutes later.
