A move for former Gunner Edu to rejoin Arsenal as technical director is back on, though it won’t go through until late July, according to reports.

The Daily Mail write that after missing out on Monchi, Arsenal are planning to return for their former midfielder for the new technical director role at the club. The Gunners previously showed an interest in Edu for the job, but he insisted he wouldn’t leave Brazil while the country was preparing to host the Copa America this summer.

Given it seems unlikely Arsenal are going to get anyone in before the summer anyway, that’s less of an obstacle to Edu’s appointment at this stage. The club feel they may as well wait until the end of the tournament in July to land their man.

The Mail write that as well as Gabriel Martinelli, Arsenal want to sign a centre-back, a left-back and an attacking wide player this summer. With Aaron Ramsey leaving, you’d think the club wouldn’t be against adding to their midfield options as well.

Since Edu would only be joining towards the end of the transfer window, he’s unlikely to have any impact on transfers this time around anyway.
