An exclusive in Tuesday’s Daily Mail has revealed that Denis Suarez is carrying a groin injury and that’s why the Spaniard has not featured recently.
Denis Suarez has played just 95 minutes since his loan move from Barcelona in January and was missing from Arsenal’s squad that travelled to Watford on Monday night. It’s safe to say that, at the very least, none of us have seen enough of him to determine whether or not the club should spend €20m on him in the summer.
It doesn’t look like that will change any time soon with the player believing rest will help sort out a groin strain that’s been hampering him.
Suarez’s loan from Barcelona has cost Arsenal around €33,000 per minute played since he arrived in January.
There was a reasonable amount of excitement when Denis Suarez arrived at Arsenal from Barcelona but that has given way to apathy – if fans even think of him it all.
Since he arrived, he has played just 67 minutes in the Premier League and 28 in the Europa League.
That means, when you factor in the €2.5m Arsenal are paying for his loan fee and the €600,000 he’s received in wages, he’s cost Arsenal €33k a minute.
Denis Suarez’s minutes:
- v Bate Borisov (a) 16
- v Bate Borisov (h) 12
- v Manchester City (a) 24
- v Huddersfield (a) 14
- v Bournemouth (h) 19
- v Manchester United (h) 10
Arsenal have the option of buying Suarez for €20m at the end of his loan spell but reports over recent weeks claim this won’t be happening.
It’s not hard to understand why.
To date, Suarez’s best performance in an Arsenal shirt came in the friendly against Al Nasr during the last international break.
