“After elimination from the Champions League there was a decline,” Ancelotti said after the draw at the weekend. “In February things got better, but the last two tests they are amazing for me.

“In these four days that are missing, you have to change quickly, otherwise, with Arsenal it will be tough.

“Genoa deserved to draw for the effort he put into the field. Except for Juventus, the others are all there to fight for a place in the Champions League. If we repeat today’s performances and with Empoli it is very hard to spend the round with Arsenal but Thursday is the ideal opportunity to improve our performances.”

Ancelotti is right to be concerned about Arsenal for the first leg given Arsenal’s form at home. It is the return leg that Arsenal fans will be more concerned about given their performance at Everton this weekend.

Carlo Ancelotti and Unai Emery have faced each other six times with the Italian winning four and losing two. Against Arsenal, Ancelotti has faced us a total of eight times, winning five, drawing one and losing two.

Unai Emery has never faced Napoli before. The good news, however, is should Arsenal win and face Villarreal in the semi-final, there’s only one side in football Emery has won more games against and that’s Espanyol.
