Now 36, Bacary Sagna plies his trade for Montreal Impact where he’s made five appearances this season after a brief spell in Italy with Benvento.

Speaking to Il Mattino, Sagna said, “Napoli is a great team, but Arsenal represents my past. It is my favorite team.

“They haven’t participated in the [Champions Legaue tournament for two years and now the team wants to show its skills and win the Europa League.

“They [Arsenal] are much faster and up front, they are very strong.

“Lacazette and Aubameyang are scary, they have a great feeling. They have a lot of fun and it shows.

“Ozil? He is fundamental, he can make the difference. If he has the ball, he can invent the right passage even when he apparently has no space. For him, Arsenal is home and [he] wants to prove himself [as] one of the best in the world.”

“It will certainly be a great match because there are two similar teams on the field.

“The return match, because the Napoli fans put a unique pressure, I have never seen anything similar in my life but I still think that Arsenal are favourites because the Azzurri have a more measured rhythm.”

He then moved on Arsenal’s previous encounters with the Italians when he was at the club. “We won 2-0, it was a good challenge,” he continued.

“In that game, I should have marked Insigne. I didn’t know him, he was still young but you could see that he would become a great man. It was really difficult to take the ball off him and reminded me of Valbuena, in fact I’d call him the Italian Valbuena.”
